Easy meal ideas are essential in our home now that the school year is back in full swing. These paninis make a really simple weeknight supper, and they can be made in any way you like. Our children adore a basic ham and cheese panini, but my spouse and I like our sandwiches with spicy meats and pepper rings.

The fact that it’s a simple dinner and that my kids are receiving some healthy cheese makes me pleased!

Are you curious about a secret?

Not even a panini press is mine! This delicious hot pressed sandwich may be made without a specific little appliance. To reheat this sandwich, I used my indoor grill, which is comparable to a George Foreman grill, but two heavy pans would also work.

All you need to do is heat up a pan (a grill pan would be ideal for creating those lovely grill marks, but it’s not required), put your sandwich on it, and then cover it with another heavy skillet. Put something substantial (such as a wrapped brick) inside the top pan to weigh it down if it’s not heavy enough to give it a proper squish.

A mouthwateringly toasted sandwich stuffed with warm meats and oozy cheese is the ultimate product.

A grown guy would go weak in the knees from it alone.

Believe me, after eating this bad boy, my spouse was unsteady.

I think you’ll love this sandwich because it’s so flavorful and spicy!

Spicy Italian Panini

This recipe for Spicy Italian Panini combines cheese and spicy meats to create a warm, crispy pressed sandwich.

Ingredients

  • Half a cup of mayonnaise
  • A half-tsp of garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp dried or fresh basil
  • 1/4 pound of sliced deli ham
  • 1/4 pound of spicy salami deli slices
  • 1/4 pound of spicy capicollo deli slices
  • Eight pieces of 1 ounce provolone cheese
  • Half a cup of hot, drained pepper rings in a jar
  • One drained and paper towel-patted roasted red bell pepper strip
  • Four huge sandwich rolls with ciabatta, divided

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the first three ingredients and whisk to combine. Cover the inside of each roll with the mayo mixture.
  • Place a slice of provolone cheese on the bottom of each roll, then roasted red bell pepper strips, ham, salami, capicollo, and pepper rings. Finally, place another slice of provolone cheese on top. Put the top on top of the roll and press the sandwich together for one to two minutes using a heated panini press or indoor grill. Warm up and enjoy.

Notes

If making the panini in a skillet, preheat it to medium heat and put the sandwich inside. Gently set another heavy pan on top of the sandwich and press it down. After a minute, turn the sandwich over and use the heavy pan to press it down once more. Serve after just one more minute of cooking.
